Welcome to the Laboratory of Agrozoology.
This laboratory is part of the Department of Crop Protection at Ghent University.
Education
The laboratory is responsible for courses in zoology, applied entomology, molecular entomology, integrated crop protection, tropical crop protection, practical studies in crop protection, pests of stored products and materials.
Research
The specific points of research interest are:
- the biology and integrated control of noxious insects in glasshouse and field crops
- the development of warning systems
- mode of action of insecticides e.g. insect growth regulators
- the development of rearing techniques for insects and mites and quality control
- the use of predatory insects, mites and entomopathogenic nematodes in biological control
Services
The services of the laboratory are oriented towards the general public as well as towards governement and industry. The clinic for phytiatrics investigates practical problems and provides identification and advice on control measurements.
